Subject: Coronado National Forest Proposed Wilderness Areas from Mountain Biker's Perspective
Date: Sun, 25 Apr 2010 16:25:43 -0700

Dear Ms. Boyle,

I am writing to you regarding the Proposed Wilderness Areas in the Coronado from the perspective of an avid mountain bike rider.

My husband and I have been visiting Tucson for many years to ride the trails in the Catalina Mountains. Based largely on the availability, quality and diversity of the trails, we fell in love with this area and decided to move here last year.

Since moving here, we have found a wonderful community of other mountain bikers who also cherish the trails in the Catalinas. We have participated in rides and in trail maintenance with many of these people. We have enjoyed our old favorite trails, such as Butterfly, Crystal Springs, Green Mountain and Bug Spring. We have also been introduced to other great trails such as Red Ridge, and we're looking forward to riding trails we've not been on yet, such as Samaniego Ridge.

When I heard about the proposal to turn these areas into wilderness, I was deeply saddened. The ban of bicycles from this area would greatly decrease the quality of life in Tucson for me and many other fellow mountain bikers. I cannot imagine not being able to escape to the cool of the mountains for a mountain bike ride during the summertime heat. I also worry about the increased traffic at other trails if the trails on the mountain become unavailable.

Please keep us in mind and do not turn these areas into wilderness areas.

Thank you for your time.
